About Sileaux:
Sileaux is co-owned by Catrina Terry a waterfowl biologist who is currently a graduate student at Lousiana State University studying waterfowl in North Dakota. Sileaux is a lucky dog that gets to follow her on many adventures.
Sileaux had an exceptional rookie hunting season. He found and pointed 8 species of wild gamebirds in four states. He spent a week hunting in Kansas for bobwhites and pheasants and we were very impressed with his natural ability to track and pin birds at 6 months old. Sileaux has always been naturally steady to wing. also hunted a week in Arizona and had nice points on Mearns and Gambels quail. He finished his season with several nice woodcock points and some doves retrieves in Louisiana.
Sileaux was swimming and smashing through cattail sloughs at 10 weeks old in North Dakota to follow his owner on her waterfowl research. He is a natural retriever and has a very natural hold and carry. He loves picking up marks just as much as the Labradors he trains with.
Sileaux will run all day, but also has the coveted off switch. He happily sleeps on his dog bed while his owner works from home and patiently entertains himself inside for days on end as he waits for hurricanes and storms to pass through. Sileaux loves everyone he meets, whether it's humans, dogs, or even (indoor) cats. He is affectionate and eager to please, which has made training him a breeze.
Sileaux received a maximum score of 112/112 in his NAVHDA Natural Ability test at only 6 months old with a first time handler training and running him. We are very excited to see how he breaks out and we are really looking forward to seeing how he does on wild birds this fall as a broke dog. His sire Duke is a powerful runner and won the Open GWPCA National championship in 2019. Like his sire Sileaux has a long body and a strong muscular build and sweet friendly temperament. His dam Blue is one of the best dogs we have ever bred and comes from the very successful Bone Point stud crossed with a gritty Blue Collar dam. Blue has been a very solid producer in her litters with an average score of 110.9/112.
